Re: Trachycarpu Nova à l'état sauvage

Here is a comparison of T.nova-narrow from the wild , T.nova-wide from a village, T.princeps -stone gate and T. princeps-cultivated from some mountain . For the first time, they are available in the same year. Seed size Compared to other Trachycarpus seeds, Nova-narrow from the wild have the most gl...

Re: Trachycarpu Nova à l'état sauvage

You guys are growing Nova.I am wondering if you ever found some of your Nova are variable, like growing slowly all of sudden and having wide and fused leaflets, looking more like T.fortunei.Actually, I did not find any variation like that in my Nova and so am curious to know the variation and the ca...

Re: Trachycarpu Nova à l'état sauvage

That is the wide form of Nova. The seeds were collected in late 2009 when we did not collect the narrow form, but only the wide form. You can check my newly updated site to see more photos for comparison. I have found an interesting thing that my Nova -wide form seem to be putting out smaller and st...

Re: Trachycarpu Nova à l'état sauvage

That is most likely the narrow form as they display bending tips ,similar to the Nova in the wild below. If you have photos of when they were smaller as my photos below showed , it can be definitely confirmed. As the Nova narrow seedlings have V-shaped narrow leaflets, it is easy to tell them apart ...

Re: Trachycarpus Princeps bleu

These princeps are from the seeds which we collected from the stone gate. People used to belive blindly the they were green, but our results and some other growers show they are even more promising than people thought. T.princeps-stone gate are the only officaly recognized T.princeps and also the mo...

Re: Trachycarpus Princeps bleu

You guys are growing very beautiful T.princeps.Here are mine. There seems to be some variation in the upper leaf coloration. Some are blue silver on top like the undersides whereas others are staying greenish. That is probably because some seeds are from the rocky cliff with full sunlight exposure a...

Trachycarpu Nova à l'état sauvage

There has been a long debate and confusion about Nova , a mysterious variety yet to be described. Since 2007, we have been traveling in the stone gate area and collecting seeds seeds from different sources in this topographically and climatically complicated area for the purpose of figuring out what...

Re: pourquoi estt Nova appelé vert Princeps?

Thierry, there is no consensus on its cold hardiness while they are still young as some said the seedlings are less hardy than fortunei whereas other reported hardy than fortunei as someone in Netherlands from EPS said his Nova got through 2 harsh winters,-19C in the year before last, followed by 1-6...

Re: Est-ce votre Trachycarpus princeps neige blanche?

Just a little update about T.princes as I took some photos of princeps yesterday. Plus the princeps in the pots and ground are quite blue silver in term of the uppersides of leaves except the white undersides , a typical blue palm , not a green one of which people usually focus attention only to the...

pourquoi estt Nova appelé vert Princeps?

Why is Nova called green princeps :?: This question boggled and are still confusing many people As we all know nova were once known as green T.princeps because they were mistakenly sold as T.princeps but turned out to be something different growing very fast no other trachycaprus can beat (excluding...

Re: Trachycarpus Princeps bleu

Based on my experience, The variations between individuals are huge while some of my princeps are more white than others at both sides under the same condition. No matter how hard I tried, this difference seemingly could not be reversed. Confusingly, my princeps even in the shade could have quite whi...

Re: Trachycarpus Princeps bleu

Melissa, how beautiful T.princeps you are growing! I really dont know what the cause is for the coloration on leaves. It is not rare to see white undersides of T.princeps. But in many cases we just see online a green upper leaf surface of T.princeps, not a blue or white ones if looked from above. It ...

Re: Est-ce votre Trachycarpus princeps neige blanche?

I really dont know what makes T.princeps more blue .What is your guy's experience with this? One of my German friends said by comparison his stone gate princeps are quite compacter like mini bonsais as demonstrated by Dirk's smallprinceps above. This could be caused by the growing conditions or inhe...

Est-ce votre Trachycarpus princeps neige blanche?

What is Trachycarpus princeps famous for? the white undersides of leaves. The answer is partly correct. The misconception is caused by the fact that the princeps we normally see on the web look greenish at upperside if without a careful look at the undersides of leaves and even the leaf undersides ar...

Trachycarpus princeps from the stone gate

The following are T.princeps grown from seeds of the stone gate. Some say they may be different from the previous sources which either demonstrate long or compact leaves.I can't compare them with other sources and so did not know much about the difference since I did not grow them by myself and so d...
